El Bolsón is maybe more known as a colorful summer destination, filled with backpackers, home-made beer and seasonal fruits as well as beautiful Patagonian lakes, forests and mountains, but there is also another El Bolsón, one that slows it’s pace and prepares to “pass winter” as a more tranquil winter village allowing locals and visitors alike some time for rest and reflection.
Summer forests and mountains are transformed into a snow filled winter landscape that can be enjoyed in front of our fireplace or outside participating in any of the various activities available in the surrounding area.
There is no better place to enjoy the snow than Cerro Perito Moreno, only 25 km out of town, this mountain offers a 500 hectare plateau perfect for Alpine, Nordic skiing and snowboarding. The Perito Moreno ski resort is a picturesque snow park with a rustic wooden Refugio and ski facilities surrounded by slopes of Lenga and Ñire forests. It is a smaller resort, perhaps not with the infrastructure available at larger resorts surrounding Bariloche, however it is perfect for beginners and families seeking quieter slopes to enjoy the snow at much lower prices. It is a home where everyone knows each other and gathers to drink a hot chocolate after an active afternoon on the slopes, a joy to experience.
And who has not dream of sitting on a comfy couch in front of a chimney, watching the snow peaks of the Andes through the windows? A pleasure from our lounge with the sound of an open fireplace burning in the background, good music, the warmth of wooden walls, the smell of home-made bread, a glass of wine or savoring our own home-brewed dark beer?
Odile opens its doors for the first time this winter season to offer you all of this in an open, warm and relaxing environment. Give yourself a break and enjoy what winter brings at our hostel, the tranquility, activities in the surroundings and not doing anything at all and being OK with it!
Please note: Apart from kayaking, all other activities in and around El Bolsón are available and accessible through the winter season.
